IT Tips for the Not-For-Profit Sector
We know money can be tight in the Not-For-Profit Sector. We have been providing IT services and support to non-profit and UK charity organisations for over 16 years. Throughout this time we have identified some tips which may be beneficial to those working in this sector.
Tip Number 1 – Microsoft Security Essentials:
Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) is a high quality Anti-Virus program and you get quality protection against viruses and spyware including Trojans and other malicious software. MSE is easy to install and easy to use. Updates and upgrades are automatic, so there’s no need to worry about having the latest protection. However it must be noted all features are quite basic.
Tip Number 2- LibreOffice:
LibreOffice is a free suite of apps for creating text documents, spreadsheets, presentations and more which can be saved in Microsoft Office formats. With LibreOffice you get nearly all the functionality of commercial word processing and spreadsheet applications without the hefty price tag.
Tip Number 3- OpenOffice:
OpenOffice is another free alternative to Microsoft’s Office package. It has the same kind of tools for documents, spreadsheets, slideshow presentations and other projects. OpenOffice provides full support for Microsoft Office formats like Doc, XLS or PPT. This means that you can receive Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint files and open them as if you had Microsoft Office on your computer.
