Windows 10 Top Features
Microsoft launched Windows 10 almost a year ago offering a free upgrade to users of Windows 7 and 8.1 for the first year. With the deadline the 29th of July rapidly approaching, some organisations are debating whether to upgrade whilst the free upgrade is still available.
So let’s have a look at the best features Windows 10 brings to your PC, laptop, tablet and smart phone…
Meet Cortana: Microsoft’s smart digital assistant allows you to set reminders, track your schedule and provides surfacing news. Cortana responds to your voice and understands natural language commands like “Find my Pictures”. Cortana is easy to use in Windows 10 after an initial set up. Cortana can help you write emails without ever clicking on your email box and also syncs with your mobile devices to glean information from them to make sure it has everything covered.
Edge browser: A brand new browser built from the ground up for speed, slickness and trawling the web. It is designed to be faster, easier to use and more convenient than its predecessor. The focus is on speed and ease of use, stripping out things like ActiveX controls and essentially making the internet a less stressful place to be.
Universal Apps: Windows 10 makes a big push in terms of apps both built in and third party. Microsoft points out that improvements in Windows 10 means apps start faster, run faster, are significantly more secure and help to extend battery life.
Security: Windows 10 brings new security advancements. A new facial recognition feature called Microsoft Hello – Using your computers digital camera recognises you and automatically completes the authentication process. Letting you log in to your computer without ever typing in your password.
Overall for the average user there isn’t much difference in Windows 10 compared to Windows 7 and 8.1. However if you want the latest technology, easier integration with the cloud and possibly better future protection from viruses then it may be worth upgrading now before the deadline. It must be noted the upgrade will take around 2-3 hours and it is Microsoft who decides when the upgrade begins. For more information on Windows 10 click here to be directed to Microsoft’s website.
